Bike Transport

How to Transport a Bike Safely in Pakistan

A motorcycle tips easier than a car and scratches faster. Here's how we keep yours upright from Lahore to Karachi.

Motorcycle secured on a carrier

A bike is the most honest thing we move — every mark shows, and a dropped one is obvious to everyone at the yard. We've shipped everything from a student's 70cc to a KD's Adventure rig since 2014, and the difference between a clean delivery and a claim almost always comes down to how it was prepped and tied. This is the plain version.

Start with the wider picture in our bike transport guide, then come back to the hands-on steps here.

1. Prep the Bike

Do this the night before, like you would for a car:

  • Drop the fuel to a bare minimum — less than a litre if you can
  • Fold or remove the mirrors so they don't snap in transit
  • Take off the phone mount, top box, and any loose luggage
  • Photograph both sides and note existing scratches

2. Crating and the Chock

On an open trailer we put the bike in a crate or a wheel chock so it can't roll or tip. In an enclosed box it rides padded alongside the cars. Either way the wheels are blocked front and back. A bike lying on its side is a bike with a bent lever and a scuffed tank — we don't do that.

3. The Tie-Down — Done Right

The straps go on the triple clamp and the frame, never the handlebars or the front forks — those bend. We pull it snug upright, not so tight the suspension bottoms, and we re-check the tension at every yard stop because vibration loosens everything. This is the single step that decides a safe delivery.

4. Insurance for the Bike

Transit cover rides with the bike from pickup to delivery, included up to a standard declared value. A superbike or a restored classic may carry a small extra premium tied to its worth — ask the excess so there are no surprises. See the motorcycle transport service for the full cover note.

5. Riding vs Shipping

For a long corridor, shipping spares you fatigue, motorway risk, and 1,000 km of chain and tyre wear. Riding wins for short hops under 200 km or when you need the bike the moment you land. Monsoon and winter fog are the two seasons we'd rather put it on the trailer.

6. At Delivery

Before signing, check the mirrors are intact, the levers aren't bent, and there's no new tank scuff against your photos. Start it and confirm the dash is clean. Sign only when it matches the condition report.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you tie down a motorcycle safely on a carrier?

We use soft straps on the triple clamp and frame — never the handlebars or front forks — with a crate or wheel chock to stop it tipping. The bike is strapped upright, not laid down, and checked at every yard stop.

How should I prepare my motorcycle for transport?

Drop the fuel to a minimum, fold or remove the mirrors, take off the phone mount and top box if loose, photograph it from both sides, and note any existing scratches on the condition report.

Is bike transport insured in Pakistan?

Yes, transit insurance covers the bike from pickup to delivery, normally included up to a standard declared value. Very high-value bikes may carry a small extra premium — ask the excess.

Can a motorcycle go on a car carrier trailer?

It can. On an open trailer we crate and strap it beside the cars; in an enclosed box it rides padded. Bikes under 70cc to big touring machines all travel the same way with the right chock.

Is it safer to ride the bike myself or ship it?

For long corridors, shipping avoids fatigue, highway risk, and 1,000 km of wear on chain and tyres. Riding makes sense for short hops or when you need the bike at both ends immediately.
